FBI rap sheet, 1935-[ongoing].

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department may send fingerprint cards to the FBI for identification. If a positive identification is made, the FBI sends a copy of the individual's rap sheet to the sheriff. It provides a history of offenses committed by the individual. This series consists of copies of the FBI Identification Record and provides the individual's name and FBI number, offenses, disposition, and the arresting agency. A physical description is also given.

The FBI established this classification when it assumed responsibility for ascertaining the protection capabilities and weaknesses of defense plants. Each plant survey was a separate case file, with the survey, supplemental surveys, and all communications dealing with a plant insofar as plant protection was concerned, filed together.
